We’re happy to have found this affordable venue for our first northern gathering. Whilst the lower costs will make this gathering more accessible for local fae, we’re hoping it will also allow us to stand in solidarity with queers globally (more on this below).
The venue charges £900 for 6 nights and we’ve budgeted £8 per faerie per day for food.
Including a 15% buffer, breakeven is around £125 - £150 depending on how many faeries stay.
Depending on your access to financial resources we suggest contributions in the following brackets:
£10 - £150 (Supported)
£150 - £250 (Comfortable)
£250 - £322 (Solidarity)
The aim of the gathering is to be financially accessible to everyone and to support this we follow our faerie principles of:
Many of us face challenges, including financial hardship. But attending this gathering also means we’re either a resident of or can access the resources and freedoms of one of the world’s most privileged nations (admittedly that privilege mostly comes from historical pillage..)
The faeries are a community built with love, and as love knows no boundaries we wanted to introduce something new.
In the booking form you will have the opportunity to opt-in and share a percentage of your pledge with an organisation that supports queer people globally - focusing on queer people who face persecution just for being who they are. We’ll choose the organisation together at the gathering so please bring ideas.
The decision to gather has an impact on the world around us - where possible we hope the intention of this gathering is to reduce this impact.
Where possible, we’ve tried to use tech from companies that don’t profit from war (although i’m writing this on a google doc). We also hope to source food from suppliers that care for the earth by reducing plastic packaging and avoiding fertilisers that impact the biodiversity of our soils and rivers.
As faeries share a deep love for the world around us, and we want to celebrate that awareness as we support each other to turn lights off, close doors to keep the heat in and recycle our waste. We also know that transport makes up the largest portion of our emissions, and we hope you will help us in our attempt to better coordinate lift shares and reduce the miles driven (and costs!).
