Most of the site is currently not accessible to wheelchair users. The route into the stables, where the shower is located, has a single stone step and a stone floored slope without handrails.
Additionally there are two small steps up into the shower. Access to the rest of the site is down a small slope and single step (no handrail) and a set of 10 outdoor stone steps, with a rail on one side only.
There are three steps up to the sleeping platform in the main meeting room. The steps have a wooden handrail on one side.
The schoolroom is accessible for most wheelchairs. It has a bedframe that sleeps two, a mini kitchen, and an ensuite toilet.
A lot of the lighting at Pardshaw is bare ceiling bulbs (also known as ‘t big light). If you are sensitive to light this is something to bear in mind, and also to bring some lamp shades if you can!
Pardshaw Quaker Centre currently has 3 raised beds in the schoolroom area. The other 17 beds are provided as floor mattresses which are kept stacked in the corner of the main meeting room and can be unstacked and spread round the three rooms as required. Some disabled people will require a raised bed for accessibility reasons.
Pardshaw Quaker Centre has two toilets. The toilet adjacent to the schoolroom contains a handrail and space for a wheelchair to maneuver. Larger groups using Pardshaw may need to implement a priority system to help disabled people in their group who cannot wait for a toilet.
There is only one shower in the stables for the whole space, bear this in mind!
The two meeting rooms are primarily heated by woodburners. This means that they can sometimes become slightly smoky, particularly if the person operating the woodburner is inexperienced.
The schoolroom has a partially sealed heritage lime flooring which can become dusty. Users of Pardshaw Quaker Centre who have respiratory conditions should be aware of possible issues with indoor air quality if sleeping inside.
We are encouraging faeries to ride share or travel by public to this gathering due to the limited parking.
Parking space for up to four small cars is just off the main road, and right outside the front door.
There is a charging point for electric vehicles, with a 13A plug (you will need your own adaptor). If you are charging your vehicle, please make an additional contribution to cover the cost of the electricity you use.
